Who do we serve?

 

Essentially anyone with a “housing need” can benefit from OHP services.

For a quick look at whether you or some you know has a housing need complete the following series of questions.

 

Summary Housing Needs Assessment:

Housing Condition:

Is the structure intended for human habitation?   Yes  No1

Is the structure safe?   Yes  No1

Is the electrical system safe?   Yes  No1

Is the water/sewer/plumbing system operating in a safe & sanitary manner?  Yes   No1

Is the heating system safe?  Yes  No1

Is the residence generally clean & sanitary?  Yes       No1

Is the residence accessible given the physical capabilities of the family?  Yes       No1

Is the residence overcrowded?   Yes2      No 

   1  indicates a housing need which requires attention.

  2  # of household members _______ minus # of rooms (other than bathroom, utility, or unfinished  basement spaces) = ______ : if one or more, the residence is overcrowded by definition and requires further exploration.

 Housing Cost Burden:

         Renter:  monthly rent + monthly renters insurance = $_______ housing cost ÷ gross monthly household income $______ = _______%4

        Owner: monthly principal + interest + taxes + insurance = $_______ housing cost ÷ gross monthly household income $______ = _______%4

         4  greater than .30 indicates an excessive housing cost burden which needs to be addressed. 

       Access to Services:

        Considering the family’s own transportation resources and/or local transportation availability, does the family have adequate access to the following resources: 

·          Groceries/Pharmacy/Consumer Goods  Yes  No1

·          Needed Service Providers (medical, mental health, social services)  Yes  No1

·          Natural Support Networks  (family, church, clubs, social or recreational activities or events, etc.) Yes  No1

·          School / Training or Educational Opportunities   Yes  No1

·          Employment / Employment Opportunities         Yes  No1

               1 indicates a housing need which requires attention.
